New Montessori classroom for 6-9 years old
pupils opened on 21 August 2023
A new classroom for 6-9 years old pupils opened in Chemin Falconnier 1 C, 1260 Nyon on 21 August 2023. The classroom is on the ground floor of the new apartment building next to the Cossy swimming pool in the Petite Prairie neighbourhood. The teaching covers the levels of 3P, 4P and 5P.
In contrast to a grade-level classroom, where a child has one year to cover certain learning objectives, the Montessori elementary classroom provides flexibility over several years. The teaching will respect the "Plan d'Études Romand" of the public school system and will include the following four core areas: Mathematics, Language, Culture (which includes History, Geography, and Science), and Computers.
In addition to core subjects offered, our curriculum includes: Physical Education, Art and Music.
Elementary aged children typically can be characterized by their curious minds, their ability to abstract and imagine, their moral and social orientation and their energy for research and exploration.
Elementary children work in small, mixed-age groups on a variety of projects which spark the imagination, engage the intellect, and develop their reasoning abilities.
Elementary studies build knowledge through an in-depth study of the world and how it works. Studies are integrated across disciplines that include geography, biology, history, language, mathematics, science, music, and other forms of artistic expression.
Exploration of each area is augmented by the children, who organize visits beyond the confines of the classroom to gain real-life knowledge from community resources, such as the library, planetarium, botanical garden, science centre, factory, hospital, etc.
This approach fosters a feeling of connectedness to humanity and encourages children’s natural desire to make a contribution to the world.

Cosmic education
Cosmic Education is a cornerstone of the Montessori Philosophy. At its core, Cosmic Education tells the story of the interconnectedness of all things. It describes the role of education as comprehensive, holistic and purposeful; to encompass the development of the whole person within the context of the universe. It also introduces the possibility that humanity might have a “cosmic task,” to better the world for future generations.
